Cornwall People First
Cornwall People First is a Self Advocacy group for Adults with learning disabilities in Cornwall. We are a charity that has been in operation since the mid 1980s, and is a 'User led' organisation.
We run forums throughout Cornwall for people with learning disabilities where people can speak up about things that are important to them, and join together with others to make their voices heard.
Cornwall People First works alongside many essential services throughout Cornwall, helping them to improve their services for people with learning disabilities. These includes Health, Police and Fire services, transport services , local authorities and public organisations.
We also run a number of exciting projects. These include 'Work In Progress' and 'Quality Checkers'. One of the other services that we proivde is 'Easy Read' design. Easy-Read is accessible information that is presented in a clear and uncluttered format, using images and limited large text. The aim of this is to make information easier to understand for people that find reading difficult. We produce leaflets, brochures, working documents, instruction manuals, promotional literature and web based information.
